Origin and intent
In 1974 BZC, the Belgian Zebra Finch Club, was founded by a few ardent zebra finch fanciers including Paul Chabot, Louis Gonnissen and Etienne De Bock. Under their impulse, BZC grew into the circle of friends it is today.

A lot has changed since 1974: the number of zebra finch mutations has skyrocketed, the knowledge about zebra finches has expanded enormously, the breeding conditions have become completely different because of adapted feeding, increased knowledge, etc...

The friendly atmosphere has remained and BZC still has the same objectives as in 1974. Meanwhile BZC has members all over Western Europe and far beyond.

BZC is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the popularity of the zebra finch by, among other things:
* publishing a magazine
* organizing and participating in
exhibitions, shows and activities concerning zebra finches
* Creating and updating standards
* collaborating with organizations pursuing the same goal.
